Council commitment to multi million pound investment

The Sport, Leisure and Culture Consultancy (SLC) were appointed to conduct an Options Appraisal to explore the alternative site options for development of a new leisure facility in Cranleigh.

Council put all corporate projects on hold due to Covid-19 pandemic

In September 2021 a Feasibility Update Report was undertaken by SLC to test the conclusions from the earlier, pre-pandemic Options Appraisal. The findings confirmed that the facility mix, and preferred location identified within the 2019 Options Appraisal still stood.

Revised capital budget approved

On 17 October 2023 Waverley Borough Councillors approved a revised capital budget of £31,137,252, to deliver a new build low carbon leisure centre built to Passivhaus certification standards in Cranleigh.

Ideas, surveys, design workshops and discussions. Appointment of GT3 architects, Project Board and Project Working Group.

Sharing the design

Sharing the design with the community, online, in person and at drop in session events. Comments will help inform the planning application.

Planning submission

Planning application and associated reports will be submitted to Waverley Borough Council for consideration.

Planning decision

The project team hope to have a planning decision by Autumn 2024.

Construction starts on site

Hoping to start construction in 2025. Subject to procurement processes and of course the planning decision.
